Nielsen Sports South Africa has launched its Tourism Division offering tourism strategy and advisory services, destination and traveller research as well as economic impact assessments.
The division will work with tourism bodies, destinations, national parks, heritage sites, destination management companies, event owners and rights holders. It is also developing a standard for economic impact assessments to allow comparisons across sport, entertainment and tourism sectors.
Bernadine Galliver has been appointed Head of Tourism. She has two decades of experience in tourism strategy, feasibility studies, economic impact assessments and investment advisory across Africa and the Middle East. She previously served as Head of Tourism Advisory for the Middle East and Africa at JLL.
Nielsen Sport SA is currently completing the first wave of its Sports Travel and Tourism Intelligence Tracker, which measures travel behaviour, spending and economic activity associated with sports and lifestyle travellers. Results are expected by the end of October with plans to conduct the study annually.
