Namibia's Gondwana Collection will be adding a new lodge to its portfolio.
Damar Mopane Lodge, located 20km east of Khorixas, will act as a suitable stopover on the way from Swakopmund to Etosha as a basis for excursions to Twyfelfontein, the Petrified Forest and the Vingerklip rock stack, as well as a starting point for tours through Damaraland and into Kaokoveld.
The main building, the chalets and the walls around the individual plots of Damara Mopane Lodge, will be designed in the style of African wattle and daub constructions, with plans to adorn many walls with copies of the rock engravings.
The 55 chalets will be connected to one another as well as to the restaurant and reception by an intricate system of paths. Each of the double room chalets will have a veranda and its own little plot with a vegetable and herb garden enclosed by a low garden wall.
