The Classic Mercedes Benz Tour of Zimbabwe, departing Johannesburg on June 11, could reinvigorate the country’s self-drive tourism sector.
The tour, says Suzette Brouwer, sales and marketing for Lonrho Hotels, will aptly confirm that Zimbabwe is safe, has good roads, fuel is readily available and road blocks are not intimidating. It will also show how border formalities work in reality.
Some of the highlights along the trip include Bulawayo, Victoria Falls, Kariba and Great Zimbabwe. The vehicles will travel a total of 3 200km over the nine-day tour through Zimbabwe and back into South Africa via Makhado.
