The arrivals statistics for July 2010 have been released in quick succession to the June 2010 data and indicate a definite slowdown in growth in comparison with the rates witnessed in the month prior.
Although certain emerging markets such as Brazil still make the top markets for that period, core markets dominated in July with some even showing significant decreases that could have been a result of teams exiting early from the tournament such as England and France.
Total arrivals for the period swelled by 9,1% from 623 414 to 680 414, while overseas arrivals grew 16,7% for the period from 156 846 to 183 042. African markets also showed growth overall with a 7,2% increase from 461 630 to 494 815.
Asian markets continued to perform well with China and Japan in the top arrivals for the country over July.
The top overseas arrivals for July 2010 were as follows:
- UK, down 9,8% from 33 013 to 29 779
- USA, up 9,7% from 25 250 to 27 690
- Germany, up 34% from 10 638 to 14 258
- The Netherlands, up 11,7% from 12 299 to 13 743
- France, down 5,2% from 9 223 to 8 741
- Australia, up 0,8% from 7 571 to 7 630
- India, up 63,3% from 4 314 to 7 043
- China, up 114,4% from 2 879 to 6 173
- Brazil, up 77,1% from 3 173 to 5 619
- Spain, up 69,9% from 3 068 to 5 211
The top African arrivals for July 2010 were as follows:
- Zimbabwe, up 14,4% from 115 305 to 131 905
- Lesotho, up 19,8% from 95 07 to 113 876
- Mozambique, up 3,5% from 91 618 to 94 785
- Swaziland, down 5,1% from 54 906 to 52 079
- Botswana, down 3,3% from 42 904 to 41 495
